Today is Small Business Saturday, when you are urged to go to your local mom and pop shops to shop, supporting your community, your neighbors and your local economy.  Awesome, right?

My parents were small business owners, once upon a time, and it’s not easy.  It takes a lot of commitment, self-sacrifice, and love for what you do.  The Man and I hope to open up our own small business someday (maybe soon), so how can I not be supportive of a day like today?

I am on vacation, so I will do what I can to support the local economy here today (I’m thinking of my favorite bagel shop a few blocks down… yum!), but I also fully intend to shop in my local community this season.
